Download the Cisco An圜onnect VPN for Windows installer. You can select the type of VPN you want to use each time you connect to the Stanford Public VPN. If you are traveling or using wi-fi in an untrusted location like a coffee shop or hotel, you may wish to encrypt all of your internet traffic through the Full Traffic non-split-tunnel VPN to provide an additional layer of security. This encrypts all internet traffic from your computer but may inadvertently block you from using resources on your local network, such as a networked printer at home. The instructions are in the configuration guide here (CLI) and here (ASDM). All non-Stanford traffic proceeds to its destination directly. Then enter it on your ASA, either via ASDM or command line. This routes and encrypts all traffic going to Stanford sites and systems through the Stanford network as if you were on campus. When the VPN network is active, I can see phone calls from my iPhone on my Mac, but answering the call on my Mac will cause the call to disconnect. When using Stanford's VPN from home, we generally recommend using the Default Stanford split-tunnel VPN.

To connect to the VPN from your Windows computer you need to install the Cisco An圜onnect VPN client.

The license we have been quoted is 'Cisco An圜onnect Mobile Part#: ASA-AC-M-5510='.Stanford's VPN allows you to connect to Stanford's network as if you were on campus, making access to restricted services possible. Once this license is applied then all 50 of our SSL licenses would be able to be used from any (multiple) Applie iOS devices. From what I am told (but am not yet sure) is that there is ONE license that needs to be applied to the ASA.

What we would like to do is connect from iPad's and iPhones. We use Anyconnect from Windows / Mac PC's to connect to our VPN. We have a Cisco ASA 5510 device which apparently has 50 SSL licenses. Both iPhone and iPad have the same iOS (5.1.1) and AC client (). While I have this working with an Apple iPhone, the iPad I have keeps looping around saying I need a to install a certificate (the iPhone doesn't and the profile is setup to use just the AAA password). With that out of the way, what we want to do should be fairly simple. I have just configured An圜onnect to work with Apple iOS. Outside of Network+, basic network troubleshooting, and occasionally logging in with Cisco's GUI tool to change a ports VLAN I don't have much practical networking experience. Hello, let me start by saying that I am by no means a Cisco expert.
